He then earned his law degree at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He later met civil rights lawyer Charles Houston and joined the NAACP. Maryland State House

With more than five decades of family ownership, Chick & Ruth’s Delly has become a tradition in Ann Arbor. This family-owned restaurant serves huge sandwiches made from house-baked bread. Featuring sandwiches named after local politicians, customers can try a variety of choices from a 1.5-pound “Colossal Reuben” to a 6-pound milkshake.

Although the restaurant has grown, many of the original ten lunch counter seats remain. Owner Ted Chick says that he will continue to offer these for years to come. He says that they are popular among single diners, and it also gives the place an authentic vintage feel.

Hammond-Harwood House

One of the unique things to do in Ann Arbor is visit the Archeology Museum. Housed in a jagged fieldstone mansion, the museum is bursting with more than 100,000 artifacts from around the world. The building’s name is a nod to the museum’s vocation, archeology.

In 1774, the house was built by a man named William Buckland. He began working as a woodworker in Virginia and soon found himself a master carver and an architect. In 1755, he was indentured to the Mason family.
